Jambo! (that’s Swahili for Hello!)

I’m an adventure-seeking guy who loves so much of what life has to offer. Growing up all over the country, I’ve been a Californian for the past 28 years.

I created this blog to celebrate a trip of a lifetime: six weeks backpacking in Africa. I start the first week with a trek to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters or 19,341 feet) and then I have the next five weeks to navigate from the mountain to Cape Town, South Africa (roughly 3,300 miles).

Unless absolutely necessary, I will not travel by plane, but only by ground (train, bus, car, boat, camel, etc.). After all, sitting in a plane over Zambia is exactly the same as sitting in a plane over Indiana.

I don’t know how often I will get into an Internet cafe or find a hotel with WiFi, so I will update the blog as often as I can.
